Being Creative is MUCH More Fun!

I'm glad I get bored and read different blogs because it gives me ideas like this. Beth had a construction spool that she generously let me have. Since it was pretty large, I decided to create a table instead of a stool. I was lacking that certain something on my front porch to go with my 2 lonely chairs. I found some awesome fabric at Wal*Mart that was only a $1 a yard. I only need 1.5 yards so this was perfect. I purchased some brown outdoor paint with a touch of sparkle for $4. I also got a bag of batting that was around $5. So the total cost of this project was only $12!

Directions for this project can be found here.

We Need Your Help!

As some of you may know, my friend Beth is in the process of opening a thrift store! We have been diligently working to get it ready to open for about 2 weeks now. We have painted the walls and baseboards, constructed a counter and dressing room, and added some creative touches to keep it hip. I come to you today for two things:

1. She needs a name! She has come up with a few ideas, but nothing has really struck her as being "the one." The 3 she is leaning towards right now are The Velvet Closet (or Velvet's Closet), Sirron (her last name backwards), or The Velvet Eye. By no means is she set on these so please send your suggestions or vote on one of the 3 listed.

A little background: She has wanted to open a resale shop as long as she can remember and it's finally happening! She loves fashion and putting people in the 'right' clothes. In fact, refashionista is another name that has come across the list. This shop is going to be in between a boutique and a Goodwill. Most of the items in the store being in style and in good quality. It will not only have clothing items, but also other household items and even jewelry. She is married to Keith (whose nickname is Lucky) and has a one year old son named Ryder who was born on St. Patrick's Day. She has a very creative personality and has an 'eye' for fashion (hence The Velvet Eye). The right name is out there, so please send your ideas!

2. Donations? I know that you have things in your closet that you don't wear anymore! Plus somethings laying around the house that you just haven't taken the time to get rid of. Well, I can help! Please send them our way! If you live in the Knoxville area (or 'round abouts) I will be more than happy to stop by and pick it up! If you live in another area, I'm sure something can be worked out. Just let me know!

Thanks for your help in advance. We both really appreciate it!
