Happy 5th Birthday Brian! A few days late, but I wanted to do a tribute to him and Project Brian's Heart.
One of my close friends and also one of the strongest women I know, lost this little boy almost 2 years ago. This is a blurb taken from a MySpace page dedicated to preventing accidents like his:
Brian Alexander Womack was a smart, loving, compassionate 3 year old boy. He had a rough start into the world between early heart problems and a diagnosis of mosaic trisomy 21, aka down syndrome. Unbeknownst to us, he managed to wonder out of our Knoxville, Tennessee home early one morning and climb into the car to play. Before he fell asleep, there is evidence that he had a great time playing in the car. Brian died due to hyperthermia on May 28th, 2006.
That was the birth of Project Brian's Heart. Starting in 2007, we hope to have an annual event in Brian's name to remember how precious our children are and that no matter how safe our homes may seem, there is always danger lurking. We, as parents, friends, and families of children, need to remind each other that life is fragile, especially when it comes to child and heat safety. Please join us in our campaign to make these precious little lives a little bit safer, and most definately, long and healthy.
