Rubber Duckie, You're the ONE!

Saturday was full of firsts for me. I spent the day with my friend Tracy and we started with a quick breakfast at Cracker Barrel. After breakfast, we headed downtown for the Knoxville Rubber Duck Race. With 40, 000 to 50,000 ducks in the water, my 2 didn't stand much of a chance, but it was still a change of scenery to get out and spend the day by the river.

We were super excited about the race starting...as you can tell...

While we were waiting we took a stroll down Volunteer Landing...and watched the river boats.

and then took pictures of people taking pictures....

...I wonder if I'm in the paper or anything?

Have I mentioned that the ducks had been unloaded off a bridge into the water? Well, they were and we kept waiting and waiting to see some yellow in the water...

We met a catfish who loved french fries....

and made friends with the Calhoun's ducks.

...took some scenery pics...

(Isn't that a cool pic?!)

and THEN....Do you SEE that??? FINALLY some YELLOOOOOOOW!!!!!

(barely)

Wait...is that all? THAT is 40,000-50,000 ducks?! You've got to be kidding me?!

Uh...that's a little better...

So...we left. LOL...but we checked and we didn't win anything...especially not the $10,000 cash!

After all that excitement we headed over to the Irish Festival on the World's Fair Site.

These tiles are mounted under a bridge leading to the WFS from 1996's tribute to cancer survivors.

More fountains! Knoxville likes it's fountains...

...and kilt wearing Irish folk!

While grabbing some lunch in Market Square, we were serenaded by this fellow...and his dog. Well, the dog didn't serenade us, but you know what I mean!

After lunch, we noticed some activity in Krutch Park and decided to check it out...

Turns out it was Davy Crockett's birthday Saturday and the National Historical Society had booths setup throughout the park.

This nice man told us stories about surgeries in the old days...

Scary...I know...
