A Day in the Mountains

I cannot express how much I love fall. It is by far my favorite season. My entire demeanor changes. After 2 full weeks of rain, Sunday turned out to be a gorgeous sunny fall day so I decided to take a trip up to the mountains. It was about 70 degrees and there was a gentle breeze. My day...

Landry loves being outdoors!

Newfound Gap overlook.

Clingman's Dome overlook.

"Clingman's Dome is the Smokies' highest peak and the third highest point east of the Mississippi. Named for a colorful Civil War general, Clingman's Dome rears its head 6,642 feet. The observation tower, located 7 miles off Newfound Gap Road, looks out on an ever -changing view. Occasionally the peak is above cloud level, creating a surrealistic scene of mountaintops floating in an ocean of white (allsmokies.com)."

Almost there...

Landry was tuckered out after the hike.

The BEST part of the trip!

I found a little water too!

He was so tired!

Come on, mom!

Gorgeous...

Fleas...Dum da dum dum

Is it just me, or have fleas gotten worse the past few years? I usually put Landry, my maltese, on flea medicine about this time every year, but it seems like they are EVERYWHERE!

Granted, he is only about 5 or 6 inches off the ground, but seriously...Fleas? Give me, well him, a break! They loooooove him. This year it hasn't made a difference if he has flea medicine or not. I haven't seen them in my house, except when I see them on him, but I'm sure they are lurking. Tomorrow, I'm bombing...and washing everything. I want them outta there!

I have heard that spraying your yard makes a HUGE difference, and I plan on trying it. But these fleas have been tough so far. I have SUPER fleas. Poor Landry...he just itches all the time. He gets obsessed with it. I have to constantly tell him to stop and lately it hasn't seemed to matter if he is infested with the critters or not. He just scratches and it breaks my heart!

Just in case you don't already know, Dawn dish washing detergent will kill the fleas on your animal. It doesn't repel them for the future, but it will kill what's on them at that point in time.

If you have any remedy or spray or ANYTHING for these little annoying things, please share! Hopefully East Tennessee's fleas won't spread to you!

It's Raining Cats & Dogs!

A few weeks ago, Gage came over for a visit. We took a little trip over to see Pappy & Mamaw Janice's NEW fence! He was awfully excited on the way over!

And excited when we got there...

...especially when he got the baseball.

He carried it, and by it I mean 2, everywhere he went...

...until it was destruction time (hence the 2)!

The next day we hung around the house to pass the morning.

Gage was just wanting to love on Chance and he was having NO part of it!

Gage is a such gorgeous dog!

Then, Pappy came over and we all worked on the yard.

Landry more so than Gage...

Last week he came to visit again! Somehow I got them all to sit still for 2.2 seconds while I snapped their picture.

Chance was feeling loving...like always.

Now, before you go thinking that I take all kinds of pictures with my animals, I just have to say the only reason I posted these is because Landry and I have the exact same expression in them all!

Sweet little big HUGE Gage.

My baby...with a new bath and haircut!

Jere not wanting his picture taken...

My little love muffin not wanting Mommy to put him in his house when she left.
