The importance of positive surroundings

Have you ever gotten stuck in a rut that you couldn't get out of? Or didn't even realize you were in one until you got out of it?

I believe wholeheartedly that if we surround ourselves with negativity then we will in turn become negative. If we get 'stuck' in a place that we feel held back, then we will be held back.

Are you currently working on a achieving a dream? Just remember the first step to following a dream or bettering ourselves is taking the actual first step into the unknown!

Simplicity

Happiness. That's what I titled this blog. Without a thought, I took it away and typed Simplicity. That's how I would describe my life right now. Simple. Simple because it's easy, not because it's boring. Simple because I'm happy. Simple because it's right. I wouldn't be able to recall the entire path that lead me here, but I would tell you that I would do it again in a heartbeat to have the same outcome.

The smallest things bring a smile to my face. I feel blessed to be where I am and know that God has a fabulous plan for my future. It is something better than I could have ever dreamed up myself. My life is so full of love and joy, which I know are gifts from Him. I am thankful for the exciting things that are happening in my life and am moving forward with a grateful and hopeful heart!

*Me*

I'm the kind of woman who used to let her self image (i.e. clothes, shoes, speech, etc.) be determined by the company she kept, but is learning to be herself no matter the situation.

I'm the kind of woman who is shy when she meets someone new, but quickly opens up and talks their ear off.

I'm the kind of woman who loves to cook, but rarely does because cooking for one is never as much fun!

I'm the kind of woman who is finally expanding her bookshelf and opening up to the world of literature.

I'm the kind of woman who would do anything for friends and family.

I'm the kind of woman who believes in saying thank you...in words and/or gestures.

I'm the kind of woman who cherishes the few close friends she has. I am very blessed to have each one in my life.

I'm the kind of woman who loves surprises! It doesn't matter if I'm doing the surprising or am the one being surprised. I ♥ it!

I'm the kind of woman who believes in a forgiving God. I'm so thankful for God's promise to never give up on His children.

I'm the kind of woman who isn't afraid to open up when she cares about someone or something.

I'm the kind of woman who treasures a compliment.

I'm the kind of woman who puts her all into things she cares about. This could be a big as a relationship or as small as finishing 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls. :o)

I'm the kind of woman who is finally living in the moment and listening to where God is leading her for the future.

I'm the kind of woman who likes to talk things out. Keeping things bottled up is not the answer.

I'm the kind of woman who makes lists. I will even add something to a list that I've already done just to cross it off!

I'm the kind of woman who loves dressing up for special occasions, but dresses very casual for most everything else.

I'm the kind of woman who was made for a relationship. I love doing things for others.

I'm the kind of woman who still writes thank you cards...sometimes just to thank someone for being who they are.

I'm the kind of woman who has trouble remembering what movies she has seen...

I'm the kind of woman who adores music and singing. I don't know who I'd be without music in my life.

I'm the kind of woman who expects the best from everyone and hurts terribly when she's let down.

I'm the kind of woman who is clumsy and who falls up stairs, but embraces every minute of it.

I'm the kind of woman who used to settle for the bare minimum in her relationships, but is finally strong enough to expect more.

I'm the kind of woman who sleeps with the ceiling fan on every night, and drives with the windows down and the heat on during the fall.

I'm the kind of woman who runs from bees.

I'm the kind of woman who loves to plan things for others, but when it comes to myself I would much rather someone else take the reigns for a change.

I'm the kind of woman who learns something new about herself everyday.

Inspired by this from Mandy.

Does everyone go through this?

So, I'm going to be 25 in about a week. No, that's not old by any means, but I'm definitely past the 'child' stage. My entire life (well since I was old enough to mean well) I have always thought I would have an awesome job that was a blast and that I excelled in. I'm wondering now if that's a thought that everyone has until they are old enough to know better or if that is still something I should go after...

In one sense, life is short and we should enjoy it to the fullest extent. But on the other hand, I'm young and have a long 'career' life ahead of me. So, should I just take what comes and be happy that I have a decent job OR should I strive for my dream of an awesome job that is a blast and that I excel in? We can't tell the future, but I never imagined that this is where I would be at this stage in my life. Not that anything is necessarily wrong with where I am, I just thought it would be different.

I think of traveling, being creative, being important, and being a vital part of a company or organization as what I should be doing right now. I just can't quite figure out if that's just something I'm daydreaming about or an obtainable dream. I have a strong feeling that something is going to change soon for me, but I'm not known for my patience; not to mention I've had this feeling for almost a year. I'm not good at sitting around and being content with settling. I am always looking and striving for something more. So settling for what I have now and not excelling isn't going to be easy for me. I don't think it's the answer either. But what's the next step? I want an adventure!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Update:
I took a career test just for fun. And just as I suspected...

    You're a PERSUADER

Key Words: Witty, Competitive, Sociable, Talkative, Ambitious, Argumentative, and Aggressive

These enterprising types sell, persuade, and lead others. Positions of leadership, power, and status are usually their ultimate goal. Persuasive people like to take financial and interpersonal risks and to participate in competitive activities. They enjoy working with others inside organizations to accomplish goals and achieve economic success.

I should probably mention that I have always wanted to be an Interior Decorator
/Designer. I have thought a lot about going back to school to get another degree in it, but just don't have the means to do so. And there is the issue of working full time to pay my current bills to be able to go back to school after I figure out how to pay for school in the first place. I know it can be done. People do it everyday. That's a serious sacrifice and I guess I need to ask myself how bad I really want it.

I really appreciate everyone's input. Keep it coming!

Finally Friday

You know those weeks...the ones that on Monday you say to yourself, "Is it Friday yet?" Even though this week wouldn't even make the "bad" list, I'm so glad it's finally Friday!

Spring is here and always brings with it a sense of joy. Thank goodness because it's definitely needed right now.

As I was walking up the steps to my front door the other day, I noticed something new in my flower bed. Back in the Fall, my g-mother, g-father, dad, and step-mom came over to spruce up the yard. I remember my g-mother finding a bulb and planting it, but had forgotten until I saw this a few days ago...
It helped me remember to slow down and notice the pretty things in life. You never know how long you have left, and I don't want to regret. I love you all and hope you have a wonderful Easter Weekend!

6 days until my 24th!

P.S. anyone know what kind of flower this is?
